Chinoiserie Garden

A story of craftsmanship

This is the story of a collection inspired by a fabric. An over 100-year-old embroidered silk Chinoiserie from Canton, China, that once traveled all the way to France and later found its place in our hearts.

The Chinoiserie made us rediscover the magic of the past. We will never know who once owned the fabric, but imagination knows no bounds.

"Now, we tell the story anew, in our own Sandberg way. That's what we call Swedish wallpaper art."

"When we glimpsed the lustrous silk fabric, there was no going back; it was love at first sight."

Some time ago, we were invited to a French pattern archive with originals from the late 19th century. We carefully rolled out the fabric centimeter by centimeter. The four-meter-long silk fabric with chipped edges, embroidered with careful hands and an artistic eye in shimmering silk thread, enchanted us. Every little stitch was captivatingly executed.

"Beautiful, gnarled Magnolia flower branches intertwined with feathery bamboo branches, surrounded by peculiar butterflies and exotic birds."
