How To Make Beautiful Plant Pots with Wallpaper
Make beautiful pots with materials you already have at home. This is a perfect way to take advantage of wallpaper leftovers from wallpapering, beautiful and climate-smart! Here we show two ways to make beautiful pots out of wallpaper for your seed starting or cuttings.
Wallpaper pots work great to hang up as swings, perfect if the entire window sills are filled with cuttings, as they do not have holes in the bottom. Feel free to prime the bottom with leca balls.
Tip! Plants in unique wallpaper pots are a fantastic gift for loved ones!
You will need
- Wallpaper samples or leftovers
- A can or milk carton
- A pair of scissors
- Glue or double-sided tape
Make a plant pot out of a tin can
Step 1: Use hot water to remove the label on the can.
Step 2: Measure the height of the can and exclude the metal edges at the ends, they will act as “lists” for the wallpaper.
Step 3: Measure the circumference of the can. If you don’t have a tape measure you can use a strip of paper or string that you can wrap around the jar to see how far it is. Add an inch in length so that the wallpaper can overlap nicely on the can.
Step 4: Draw a rectangle on the back of the wallpaper according to the dimensions of the can (height and circumference) and cut out.
Step 5: Glue the wallpaper to the can and overlap the wallpaper in the back.

Make a plant pot of milk carton
Step 1: Cut off the lower part of the milk carton to the desired height of the pot.
Step 2: Measure the height and then add about half more to be able to fold the wallpaper in at the bottom. If the height of the milk carton is 4 inches, add 2 inches. The height will then be 6 inches.
Step 3: Then measure the width of the milk carton and add a few extra centimeters so that the wallpaper can overlap nicely on the carton.
Step 4: Draw a rectangle on the back of the wallpaper according to the dimensions of the milk carton (height and width) and cut out.
Step 5: Glue the wallpaper to the cardboard and leave an edge of about 1 cm at the top.
Step 6: Overlap the wallpaper on the back.
Step 7: Fold the edges underneath as a package, fastened with glue.
Step 8: Fold in the edges at the top, fasten with glue.
Time to plant your cuttings!
