How to hang wall murals

Make sure you have all the strips and that none of them are defective or damaged. Please note that your wall mural is custom sized, which may cause the ending strip to be not fully printed!

Start by dividing the lenghts as indicated by the cutting symbols. Lay the lenghts, with the label facing upwards, in numerical order starting with length number 1. The lenghts are numbered in hanging order from left to right.

Allow the wallpaper to rest for a few minutes to smooth out from rolling. Inspect the wall one last time to make sure the wall is ready for wallpapering.

Always use paste specifically for non-woven wallpaper.

Mixing the paste from Sandberg Wallpaper

1. Use a bucket and whisk to mix with.

2. Sprinkle content of package into 3,5 liters of lukewarm water and mixing briskly for 30 seconds.

3. Let the wallpaper paste rest for three minutes and then stir again.

4. Wait another 15 minutes to let the wallpaper paste set to a viscous mass.

5. Give it a good final stir and it is ready to use.

Unused wallpaper paste can be stored for about 14 days in a tightly sealed container.

Our wall murals are always hung from the left to the right, start with the left corner of your wall.

Make a pencil mark one wallpaper width from the left near the ceiling.

Hold a plumb line on the mark and draw a vertical line down the wall.

Then line up your first length of wallpaper with the pencil line. It is essential that the first length is vertically straight. Measure the wall and mural carefully.

Roll the paste straight onto the wall. Be sure to evenly cover the entire surface. If you miss a spot, this will cause the wall mural to bubble. Paste an area the width of one and a half strips at a time.

The strips are numbered in hanging order from left to right and should be hung edge to edge without any overlapping. 

The first strip: Starting from the top and working your way down, carefully position the mural strips according to your plumb line. Use a smoothing tool to gently press the mural onto the wall, eliminating air bubbles and creases.
The second strip: Add paste to the wall and place the second strip with 2-3 mm distance from the first strip. Gently and evenly press the strips together to fit the pattern. Make sure the wall has been pasted where the strips meet so that the edges are not visible.

Always smooth each length with a clean wallpapering tool or wallpaper brush. Work from the ceiling to the floor and from the middle out to the edges.

Use a sharp utility knife to trim any excess wallpaper at the top, bottom, and corners. Any excess paste should be removed immediately using a wet wallpaper sponge.

Repeat this stage until the strips are all hung.

Keep the room ventilated and at normal room temperature for 24 hours to allow the paste to dry.
