Calculate the number of wallpaper rolls you will need

Use our simple and effective wallpaper calculator to work out how many rolls of wallpaper you will need to decorate your room.

How do I work out the number of rolls of wallpaper?

It’s easy. Just enter the length and height of the wall you want to paper.
Enter the pattern repeat and roll length for the wallpaper you have chosen. The calculator then works out the number of rolls you need.

How big area does a roll of wallpaper cover?

That depends. If you have chosen a wallpaper with an offset pattern match, you will normally need several extra rolls.
It also depends on the number of doors and windows in the room you are decorating. We will be happy to help you figure it out – just ask.

What is an offset pattern match?

As a rule of thumb, if there is a large variation in the pattern or a large pattern on the wallpaper, you will have to use an offset match.
This means that the first and third strips of wallpaper are cut the same, while the second strip is cut like the fourth.
If you are not certain whether or not the wallpaper you want to use has an offset pattern, it’s easy to check in the data section for our wallpapers on the website.
Some wallpapers have a large pattern, and this can make matching difficult. We suggest you unroll several rolls, so that you can see the whole pattern. That makes it much easier when you start papering.

What is a straight pattern match?

Quite simply, this means that the pattern repeats across the width of the wallpaper strip. This makes it much easier to visualise the whole pattern, so the wallpapering job usually goes more quickly with a straight pattern match.
If you are not certain whether or not the wallpaper you want to use has a straight pattern match, it’s easy to check in the data section for that pattern on the website.

Please note

Our wallpaper calculator works out the approximate number of rolls of wallpaper you need. Different patterns will require more or fewer rolls, depending on the pattern repeat.
The calculator does not allow for doors or windows. Sandberg Wallpaper is not liable for any surplus or shortfall in the number of rolls of wallpaper resulting from these calculations.
