Pattern Stories

Lake Como

With Pattern Stories, we embrace a specific wallpaper design and tell the story behind the pattern. We want to show the craftsmanship that leads to the finished wallpaper. We call this Swedish Wallpaper Art.

This time, we tell the story of a design inspired by Lake Como, a storied destination in northern Italy where nature and architecture exist in quiet harmony. Situated at the foot of the Alps, the landscape is defined by steep mountainsides, historic villas, and the still surface of the lake. The beauty is timeless, carrying a sense of cultural richness and la dolce vita.

"I remember a boat ride on Lake Como. The mirror-still water reflected the historic villas and the surrounding mountains. The historic architecture alongside the exotic nature felt almost unreal in its beauty, something I longed to capture in a pattern."

Karolina Kroon, Designer

The pattern is built as a modern Toile, drawing inspiration from hand-painted Chinese porcelain. The city of Como, the lake, and its surrounding landscape are carefully composed into a detailed design that holds both tranquility and grandeur, interpreting a personal travel memory as Swedish Wallpaper Art.

"Drawing on references from hand-painted Chinese porcelain, I built up the city of Como, the lake, and its magnificent surroundings in a modern Toile. It keeps the memory of the journey alive."

Karolina Kroon, Designer

Lake Como is part of the Villa Como collection. Our very own travel story from this beloved region. The collection reflects a devotion to beauty, where classical elegance meets the calm of nature and whispers of history remain ever present.
