How to use wallpaper for wainscoting

Mel is a stylish mother of two from Scotland with a fantastic home. We loved how she used our wallpaper Estelle Dark Blue as wainscoting in her daughter’s room. Therefore, we asked Mel to share her thoughts on her home interior.

Tell us something about yourself.

My name is Mel, and I am a mum of 2, a hairdresser, but have a real passion for interiors, in particular, the styling side.

When styling a room, I always try to pull it together using complementary colours, different textures within the soft furnishings, and lots of wall decor. I like to give a room a fairly neutral pallet, so I can add in things at a later date, or change the textiles and prints over time.

We love your creative styling. Please tell us a bit about the process when you update the styling of a room.

I fell in love with the Estelle range when I saw it via another post on Instagram and designed the whole room around it. Mila got input by helping pick some of the finishing touches, and she helped pick the paint also.

What is your best advice for someone who would like to wallpaper at home?

I would say anyone who wants to put wallpaper in a room to go for it. It’s a beautiful way to add different dimensions to the room by using it cleverly. Either as a feature wall or as I have done using it only halfway. By picking something classic like a stripe you can change the room as you wish as it will never date.

Which is your best styling advice?

My best styling tip is layering up different fabrics and tones that always give a real homely and warm finish to a room. Wall decor is my main addition to all my rooms in my home, and a few prints clustered can really pull the room together.

We love this styling!
